Seobu 2-dong: Hairdressing Volunteer Service at Senior Citizens' Centers
Namsan-myeon: Meal Kit Support for Seniors Living Alone
The Community Social Welfare Councils of Seobu 2-dong and Namsan-myeon in Gyeongsan City are taking the lead in promoting community welfare by providing hairdressing volunteer services for local seniors and supporting living expenses for vulnerable groups.
On April 21, the Seobu 2-dong Community Social Welfare Council (Chairman Kim Jaeshin) visited the senior citizens’ center at Gyeongnam Shinsung Apartment to provide the “Visiting Hairdressing Volunteer Service” for seniors with limited mobility.
The “Visiting Hairdressing Volunteer Service,” a specialized program of the Seobu 2-dong Community Social Welfare Council, is held every two months at senior citizens’ centers. The service is provided mainly by three professional hairdressers who are also council members. The first session of this year was held on February 10 at Sinhwapyeonggwang Senior Citizens’ Center.
Chairman Kim Jaeshin stated, “Although it may be a small gesture, I hope it will be helpful to our seniors,” and added, “We will continue our regular volunteer activities so that we can contribute to the community, rather than making this a one-time event.”
On April 22, the Namsan-myeon Community Social Welfare Council (Chairman Kim Yongwoo) launched a meal kit support program as part of the “Happiness Safe” project for the first half of 2026, aiming to ensure food security and prevent emotional isolation among low-income seniors living alone.
This program will run for three months, from April to June, targeting 20 low-income seniors living alone in the community. Twice a month, nutritious meal kits will be delivered regularly.
In particular, the program goes beyond simple meal support by also checking on the recipients’ health and living conditions during visits, which is expected to help build a robust social safety net and prevent solitary deaths.
