AWS Declares "The Year of Agentic AI"... Supporting Korea's AI Ecosystem with Partners
Investment of $200 Million to Secure 1 Million NVIDIA Chips
$500 Million Investment in Anthropic; Latest Models Provided to Customers
Partner Strategy for Korean Market Unveiled
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has designated this year as the inaugural year of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) and plans to strengthen collaboration with its partners to support the development of AI ecosystems for domestic customers. To this end, AWS will additionally introduce NVIDIA’s AI semiconductors and, in collaboration with Anthropic, provide its customers with the latest AI models on AWS.
Rahul Pathak, Vice President of Data and AI GTM at AWS, stated at a press conference held on the morning of the 22nd at the AWS Korea headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, “This is the year of AI agents,” adding, “We will work with our partners to help customers seize opportunities in the era of AI agents.”

In addition, AWS intends to enable customers to see results from day one by leveraging its own AI chips, Trainium and Inferentia, as well as platforms for building AI agents such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, and Bedrock AgentCore.
Furthermore, Vice President Rahul Pathak revealed that AWS will support Anthropic’s latest AI model, Claude Opus 4.7, on its generative AI platform, Amazon Bedrock. Opus 4.7 offers improved performance across all areas compared to previous models, making it particularly suitable for designing and operating AI agents.
The two companies are also expanding their strategic cooperation. Anthropic will invest more than 100 billion dollars (approximately 147.77 trillion won) in AWS technology over the next ten years and will be supplied with up to 5 gigawatts (GW) of AI infrastructure. AWS will also support its AI training-specialized chip, Trainium. In addition, Amazon, the parent company of AWS, will make a new investment of 5 billion dollars (approximately 7.4 trillion won) in Anthropic and could invest up to 20 billion dollars (approximately 29.5 trillion won) depending on performance. Previously, Amazon had invested 8 billion dollars (approximately 1.18 trillion won) in Anthropic.
Through this collaboration, AWS will not only introduce the latest Claude models but also secure Anthropic as a major customer for its proprietary AI chip, Trainium. For Anthropic, this partnership provides access to enterprise customers through AWS, the world’s leading cloud provider.
