The project involved a complete overhaul of aging plaza facilities to create a comfortable waterfront space where any citizen can relax.
Gomo Lake Park has long served as a frequent leisure destination for local residents, but the need for facility upgrades had been continuously raised due to the park's aging infrastructure.
In response, Pocheon City initiated a comprehensive makeover of the park, reflecting citizens' feedback. The process entailed numerous administrative procedures, including consultations on agricultural production infrastructure, the lifting of agricultural protection zones, urban management plan decisions, and implementation approvals. After coordination and negotiations among related agencies, the project was completed in about four years.
The renovation has newly established a variety of amenities, including an outdoor stage, waterfront trails, viewing rest areas, gardens, night lighting, parking lots, and dedicated photo zones.
In particular, the city expanded pedestrian pathways and rest facilities connected to the waterfront, enhancing convenience for visitors. Improvements to the nighttime scenery have also laid the groundwork for the park to become a new local landmark.
