Cheorwon County Achieves Top Content Award at Korea Leading Festival Expo
Unique Content Such as Hwagang Freshwater Snail Festival and Mulwitgil Trekking
Cheorwon's Distinctive Festivals Gain National Recognition for Their Competitiveness
Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province achieved a remarkable feat by winning the top prize in the content category of the 'Korea Best Festival Awards' at the 6th Korea Leading Festival Expo, held at Suwon Convention Center from April 17 to April 19, competing against a total of 258 booths.
At this expo, Cheorwon County operated a distinctive promotional booth and showcased unique local festival content set against the pristine DMZ natural environment. In particular, the county drew attention with promotional materials and videos highlighting the Cheorwon Hwagang Freshwater Snail Festival—a hands-on summer festival themed around the 'Hwagang Dasul Dasulgi' freshwater snails grown in the Hantan River's volcanic bedrock water—as well as the Mulwitgil Trekking experience, both of which feature Cheorwon's unique storytelling.
In addition, Cheorwon County's mascot 'Cheolgung-i' was featured in publicity activities and quiz events, which received an enthusiastic response from on-site visitors and served as an effective means of naturally promoting the county.
