Gyeongsan City is set to actively advance its administrative capabilities and ensure citizen safety, centering on key departments such as the Planning and Coordination Bureau, Economic and Environmental Affairs Bureau, and Construction and Safety Bureau.
The Planning and Coordination Bureau will conduct the first round of qualitative indicator consulting for the 2027 joint local government evaluation over two days starting April 23 in the small conference room.
This consulting session will feature Professor Kim Joungho, a former joint evaluation committee member, and will target 24 team leaders and practitioners. It will focus on one-on-one analyses of 10 indicators and the identification of best practices, thereby enhancing the appropriateness of the evaluation report.
In addition, starting April 22, the Collections Team will attend a free-thinking forum in Jeju to discuss strategies for collecting delinquent taxes and increasing revenue. From April 20 to May 8, Gyeongsan City will also publicly recruit suppliers of return gifts for the Hometown Love Donation Program to stimulate the local economy.
The Economic and Environmental Affairs Bureau is focusing on environmental protection and responding to the climate crisis.
From April 20 for ten days, a survey on soil contamination will be conducted at four locations in the city, thoroughly inspecting 23 items including cadmium and mercury.
On April 21, the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee will convene to review the implementation status of the first basic plan and climate crisis adaptation measures.
Additionally, the bureau will enhance the completion of pending projects by conducting a joint special inspection to prevent fires at waste processing facilities and by holding a proposal evaluation committee for the establishment of the basic urban transportation improvement plan.
The Construction and Safety Bureau is fully committed to safety management to protect the lives and property of citizens.
From April 20 to June 19, for about two months, the bureau will conduct intensive safety inspections on 80 aging high-risk facilities in the city, including factories, nursing homes, and bridges.
In particular, on April 23, the Safety Management Working Committee will be convened to pre-review the safety management plan for the 104th Children's Day celebration. On April 21, the bureau will visit the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office to propose disaster management fund projects totaling 2 billion won, including the installation of bar screens at drainage pump stations and the establishment of an integrated disaster management platform.
Infrastructure improvements to enhance transportation convenience and residential conditions are also accelerating.
With the completion of lane expansion construction around the Jinryang-eup Gyeongsan Interchange, the new lanes will officially open at 2 p.m. on April 22.
This opening is expected to significantly improve traffic flow in areas prone to chronic congestion.
