Previously, it was reported that in June 2022, the Chuncheon Police Station obtained information that Hak Ja Han, President of the Unification Church, and other church executives had engaged in gambling worth about 60 billion won at a casino in Las Vegas, USA, between 2008 and 2011. However, suspicions arose that the investigation was halted after intelligence related to the police investigation was leaked to the political sphere through the intervention of Kweon Seongdong, a member of the People Power Party.
