"I Just Wanted to See If It Worked"... Woman in Her 20s Discharges Fire Extinguisher Inside Subway at Dawn
Fire Extinguisher Discharged Inside Gyeongui-Jungang Line Train
A woman in her twenties was apprehended by police after discharging a fire extinguisher inside a moving subway train.
According to Yonhap News on April 20, at around 12:20 a.m. the previous day, a woman in her twenties took out a fire extinguisher installed in a passenger car on the Gyeongui Line and sprayed it on the seats and floor. At the time, there was no emergency—such as a fire—that would have warranted the use of a fire extinguisher inside the train.
There were no injuries or train delays caused by the incident; however, it was reported that train operations were subsequently disrupted due to the need to clean up the fire extinguisher discharge in the affected car.
The railway authorities had the woman disembark at Korea Aerospace University Station, where she was handed over to the police. The suspect, identified as Ms. A, reportedly stated that she "wanted to see if the fire extinguisher was working properly."
