Korea Media Rating Board Simplifies Fee Reduction Process for Independent and Art Films
Implemented from April 20
The Korea Media Rating Board announced on April 20 that it will simplify the process for reducing classification fees to ease the administrative burden on independent and art film producers. Starting today, a new integrated service will be implemented, allowing users to verify independent and art film certification information online through data integration with the Korean Film Council.
This measure follows the 'Film Information Sharing and Data Integration Work Agreement' signed with the Korean Film Council in November last year. Previously, works recognized as independent or art films were eligible for reduced classification fees, but applicants had to prepare and submit supporting documents, such as the certification issued by the Korean Film Council, themselves.

With the implementation of the integrated service, since February this year, works recognized by the Korean Film Council are now automatically verified in the Korea Media Rating Board system, eliminating the need to submit supporting documents.
