LG Chem to Showcase Robotics, Automotive Electronics, and Medical Materials at Chinaplas 2026
Exhibiting 90 High-Value, High-Performance Strategic Products
Showcasing Exterior and Safety Materials for Humanoid Robots
LG Chem is targeting the Chinese market by unveiling its materials for robotics, automotive electronics, and medical applications at Asia's largest plastics exhibition.
On April 20, LG Chem announced that it will participate in Chinaplas 2026, which will be held in Shanghai, China, for four days starting April 21.
Under the theme "Materials That Have Driven Industrial Transformation," LG Chem will set up dedicated exhibition zones for major industries such as robotics, automotive electronics, and medical applications within a booth spanning approximately 400 square meters. The company will showcase around 90 high-value strategic products.
In the robotics sector, LG Chem will present exterior materials featuring metallic ABS. These materials enable gloss without a separate painting process, allowing for both streamlined manufacturing and weight reduction. For internal wiring, ultra-high polymerization polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with enhanced heat resistance and flexibility can be applied. High-refractive materials, which offer glass-like transparency and high impact resistance, enable curved designs and are ideal for lens covers for robot eyes and sensors.
The company will also showcase engineering plastics designed to delay thermal runaway for enhanced battery safety and "Nexula," an aerogel-based thermal barrier material. SFB forms a dense barrier when exposed to flames, delaying the transfer of heat and pressure, while aerogel provides excellent insulation to effectively block the spread of heat generated inside batteries. These materials are expected to significantly improve battery safety in everyday applications, such as humanoid robots.
In the automotive electronics field, high-gloss, high-heat-resistant ASA (advanced synthetic resin) is used for side mirrors and radiator grilles, offering excellent weather resistance with minimal discoloration and degradation. These parts achieve superior gloss and exterior quality without the need for additional painting processes. Additionally, high-transparency polycarbonate (PC) applied to daytime running lights (DRL) evenly distributes LED light across the lamp, delivering clear brightness and outstanding visibility even during daytime hours.
Medical-grade ABS and PC are used for various syringe connectors and the exterior of hemodialysis machines. These certified materials meet regulatory standards for biocompatibility required in medical environments involving contact with drugs or blood, ensuring stable connections between devices and protecting structural integrity.
Furthermore, using its proprietary technology, LG Chem will promote "Unicurable," an ultra-thin packaging film material. While maintaining physical properties equivalent to those of conventional composite packaging films, this film is made from single-material polyethylene (PE), enhancing recyclability and appealing to global customers.
LG Chem plans to closely analyze the main interests of booth visitors through surveys and other methods, and to expand these insights into practical sales opportunities for high-value products in the future.
