CGV to Host 'Buster Keaton Masterpieces Retrospective' Starting on the 22nd
Screenings Include "The General" and "Sherlock Jr."
CGV announced on April 20 that it will screen works by director Buster Keaton, an iconic figure of the silent film era, across all Art House theaters starting from April 22.
This special retrospective has been organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Keaton's renowned film "The General." Director Keaton is known for pioneering new techniques in comedy cinema through his expressionless acting, physical stunts, and innovative use of space in directing.
The lineup includes seven films produced in the 1920s. These feature his first feature-length work, "Three Ages," the inventive "Sherlock Jr." which blurs the boundaries between screen and reality, and "The General," which became legendary for its real-life train stunts.
All of the films have undergone 5K digital scanning by the film restoration specialist company Blackhawk Films. Newly composed and arranged orchestral soundtracks from the 2020s have also been applied.
