The Only Korean Film Invited to the International Competition Section
Director Park Hoon-jung's latest film, "The Sad Tropics," won the Silver Raven Award, a special jury prize, at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, which concluded in Belgium on April 18, 2026.
The Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival is regarded as one of the world's top three fantastic film festivals, alongside the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain and the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal.
"The Sad Tropics" was the only Korean film invited to the international competition section this year. The story revolves around children belonging to the "Sad Tropics," a group of killers raised by a master who reigns as an absolute power in the tropical rainforest. The plot follows how an incident that shakes their very existence leads them to suspect one another and vow bloody revenge.
