Yeongdeungpo District Expands "50,000 Won Monthly Meal Support" for Single-Person Youth Households
Support Provided from April to December
Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul will expand its "Meal Support for Single-Person Youth Households" program, which was introduced last year as the first of its kind nationwide. The district is implementing this initiative to ensure healthy eating habits for young people living alone and to ease their financial burden. In its first year, the program provided a healthy meal to 625 young participants and received a positive response. This year, the district will extend the duration of the program, increase the budget, and expand the scale of support.
The program targets single-person youth households aged 19 to 39 residing in Yeongdeungpo District. Applicants are eligible if their household income is at or below 100% of the standard median income for one person (2,564,238 won).
The support period runs from April to December, and each participant will receive meal services worth 50,000 won per month. Participants can choose one option from a healthy meal plan, a package of side dishes, or meal ingredients, all delivered regularly. Meals are provided by Hyundai Green Food, and the program includes an initial one-time nutritional assessment and access to health content via a dedicated KakaoTalk channel.
Applications are accepted regularly each month during the support period. For April, the application period is from the 20th to the 26th. Applicants must join the "Yeongdeungpo Youth" Naver Cafe, complete the application form via Naver Form, and submit supporting documents to the responsible staff by email (we0109@ydp.go.kr).
Priority is given to recipients of the Basic Livelihood Security Program. If the number of applicants exceeds the budget, final recipients will be selected through a public lottery among general applicants. However, those receiving the Ministry of Health and Welfare's agri-food voucher as part of the Basic Livelihood Security Program are restricted from applying for overlapping benefits. Selection results will be posted on the Yeongdeungpo Youth Naver Cafe and also sent via individual text messages.
In addition, the district is implementing various support programs to enhance youth stability, including "Labor Talk" labor counseling for employed youth, a safe housing contract assistance service for single-person households, gender-specific health checkups, and up to 100,000 won in support for national certification exam fees. The "Youth Monthly Rent Support Program," aimed at easing housing costs, is currently accepting new applications from 563 individuals until May 29, providing up to 200,000 won per month for 24 months.
