Yongin City Strengthens Management of Illegal Buildings to Create a Safer Urban Environment
Improved Administrative Procedure: Streamlined from Six to Five Steps for Greater Efficiency
Period to Impose Non-Compliance Penalties Shortened by One Month
Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sangil) announced on April 17 that it will implement an administrative procedure improvement plan to strengthen the management of illegal buildings and contribute to the creation of a safe urban environment for citizens.
The core of this plan is to streamline overlapping steps in the administrative process, thereby concentrating administrative resources and enabling swift execution. Through this, the city expects to strengthen enforcement and management work regarding illegal buildings and contribute to enhanced citizen safety.
The city has simplified the previous six-step administrative sanction procedure to five steps.
Previously, the process involved a total of six steps: ▲ On-site inspection ▲ Advance notification of corrective order ▲ Issuance of corrective order ▲ Urgent request to comply with corrective order ▲ Advance notification of imposition of non-compliance penalty ▲ Imposition of non-compliance penalty. It took approximately four to six months to reach the imposition of the non-compliance penalty.
The improved procedure now consists of five steps: ▲ On-site inspection ▲ Advance notification of corrective order ▲ Issuance of corrective order ▲ Urgent request to comply with corrective order and advance notification of non-compliance penalty (integrated) ▲ Imposition of non-compliance penalty. As a result, the period required to impose the non-compliance penalty is expected to be shortened by about one month.
In addition, the city plans to revise guidance materials related to illegal buildings to clearly explain the calculation method for non-compliance penalties and the revised ordinance, making them easy for citizens to understand. The city also aims to reduce the occurrence of illegal buildings by promoting advance prevention and public awareness simultaneously.
