Climate Change Week is held annually to commemorate Earth Day on April 22. This year, the event will feature a citizen-participation campaign under the theme "Connecting the World through Carbon Neutrality Practices."
On April 22 at 2 p.m., in front of the Jungwoo Shopping Center, a campaign will be held to inform citizens of the seriousness of the climate crisis and to encourage climate action. The campaign will include the introduction of carbon neutrality practice guidelines, a pledge to reduce one ton of greenhouse gases per person, and the promotion of Changwon City's "10 Climate Actions."
In addition, from April 17 to 22, simultaneous campaigns will be conducted at five district offices and local community welfare centers to raise awareness of the importance of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life and to share practical methods for doing so.
In particular, on Earth Day, April 22, a nationwide lights-out event will take place for 10 minutes starting at 8 p.m. Public institutions, apartment complexes, and households in Changwon City will participate by turning off lights and electronic devices for 10 minutes to contribute to carbon reduction efforts. To encourage participation, a "lights-out certification event" will also be held, and a prize drawing will be held for participants, awarding selected individuals with gifts.

Yu Jeong Lee, Director of Climate and Environment, stated, "Although turning off the lights for 10 minutes is a small act, if all citizens participate together, it will be the first step toward overcoming the climate crisis and making significant changes for the realization of carbon neutrality. I hope it becomes a meaningful time in which everyone participates."
