Equity-Linked Bond Exercises Reach 1.77 Trillion Won in Q1, Up 336.5% Year-on-Year
The amount exercised for equity-linked bonds in the first quarter of this year totaled 1.7719 trillion won. This represents an increase of 19.2% compared to the previous quarter and a surge of 336.5% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Korea Securities Depository on April 16, the number of exercises in the first quarter was 1,823, which is a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous quarter but a threefold increase compared to the same period last year.
Equity-linked bonds refer to bonds that can be converted or exchanged into the issuing company's shares or similar securities under certain conditions set at the time of issuance, such as convertible bonds (CB), exchangeable bonds (EB), and bonds with warrants (BW).

By type, the amount exercised for convertible bonds (CB) reached 786.8 billion won, up 290.6% year-on-year; exchangeable bonds (EB) accounted for 860.2 billion won, up 351.5%; and bonds with warrants (BW) totaled 124.9 billion won, representing an increase of 798.5%. The number of exercises also rose, with CBs up 89.8%, EBs up 2,312.5%, and BWs up 252.5% compared to the previous year.
