Contest for Nanjung Ilgi Book Reports and Yi Sun-sin Historic Site Travelogues

The Hyeonchungsa Management Office under the Cultural Heritage Administration will hold a contest for book reports on the Nanjung Ilgi and travelogues of Admiral Yi Sun-sin-related historic sites from April 17, 2026, to September 17, 2026.
The contest consists of two categories: a book report on the Nanjung Ilgi and a travelogue documenting visits to Admiral Yi Sun-sin-related historic sites across the country. Participants are divided into elementary, middle and high school, and general (including university students) categories.
Winners will receive the Patriotism Award (Cultural Heritage Administration Director’s Award), the True Talent Award (National Assembly Member’s Award), and the True Leader Award (Naval Academy Superintendent’s Award). Some of the winners will also have the opportunity to serve as citizen officiants at the memorial ceremony commemorating Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s birthday in April next year. The results will be announced in October.

This contest began in 2013 after the Nanjung Ilgi was inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, and this year marks its 14th edition.
