Seo-gu, Gwangju, Strengthens On-Site Collection with Tailored Arrears Management
Full-Scale Operation of the Local Tax Revenue Arrears Management Team
Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will operate a "Local Tax Revenue Arrears Management Team" to strengthen the collection of local taxes and non-tax revenue in arrears. To this end, the district plans to select 11 members for the Local Tax Revenue Arrears Management Team through a recruitment announcement in the first half of the year.
According to Seo-gu Office on April 14, the management team will encourage payments by conducting a survey of the actual conditions of delinquent taxpayers and guide them to practical payment solutions such as installment plans. In particular, the team plans to check each taxpayer's living conditions and ability to pay through phone calls and direct visits and will carry out tailored follow-up measures.
The district will implement differentiated measures according to the type of delinquent taxpayer. For those with large or habitual arrears, strong enforcement actions such as seizure and public auction will be taken. For temporary delinquents, the district will offer measures such as installment payments to encourage prompt payment. For those in arrears due to economic hardship, Seo-gu will provide customized support along with guidance on repayment.
Seo-gu expects that the operation of the management team will contribute to increased tax revenue as well as the creation of public jobs.
