Jeonnam National University Transforms into a Platform to Address Both "Cancer Treatment Paradigm" and Youth Well-being
Jeonnam National University is shifting from merely providing employment support to becoming a "problem-solving platform" that takes responsibility for all aspects of young people's lives. By establishing a collaborative alliance with local institutions, the university is presenting a new model that expands a university-centered employment safety net to encompass the entire region.
According to Jeonnam National University on April 13, the University Job Plus Center (headed by Park Chanjin) has begun earnest efforts to build a comprehensive employment safety net for current students and local youth.
On April 9, Jeonnam National University held the "2026 First Working-Level Council for Youth Support Projects" at the university library annex. The council was organized to systematically address the diverse needs of young people—such as work experience, employment competency enhancement, and psychological support—and to strengthen cooperative systems among related local institutions.
The meeting was attended by representatives from nine youth support organizations in Gwangju, including Gwangju Youth Dream Bank, Gwangju Youth Job Station (Dongmyeong and Sangmu branches), International Career Center, Gwangju Human Resources Development Center of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dongmyeong Youth Creative Studio, Talent Cultivation Academy, Ingeus Gwangju Branch, and the Regional Employment Policy Institute, among others. They discussed ways to collaborate more effectively.
Participants agreed on the need for an integrated support system that addresses the complex challenges faced by young people, such as psychological, economic, and academic adaptation issues, going beyond traditional employment counseling. In particular, they gathered opinions on expanding "mobile customized services" that are felt by young people themselves, moving away from supplier-centered approaches.
In addition, Jeonnam National University and its partner organizations plan to jointly conduct the "2026 Career and Employment Hope Service Demand Survey" to analyze the career readiness and policy needs of youth, and based on these results, operate education and counseling programs in the second half of the year.

Park Chanjin, head of the University Job Plus Center, said, "When youth support organizations in the region work together organically like a single platform, it becomes possible to create changes that young people can truly feel. We will further strengthen the one-stop employment service system that encompasses both students and local youth by promoting cooperation that breaks down institutional boundaries."
