Goheung County Selected for Ministry of Interior and Safety’s “Smart Welfare and Safety Service Model” Project
Ensuring Safety and Convenience for Seniors
with LED Lights and Wireless Remote Controls
Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on April 10 that it has been selected for the “Eup, Myeon, and Dong Smart Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Development Support Project” organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This project involves establishing safety councils in each eup and myeon to identify and address blind spots in welfare and safety. A total project budget of 40 million won, including national funds, will be invested.
The project will install LED lights and wireless remote controls in the homes of 300 households from vulnerable groups, such as elderly people living alone and people with disabilities who have difficulty moving, creating a safer and more convenient living environment.
In particular, LED lights will be installed that can be turned on and off with a wireless remote control, addressing the difficulty of operating switches during nighttime movement. Through this, the risk of falling accidents will be reduced and residents will be able to respond swiftly in emergency situations.
In addition, by installing energy-efficient LED lighting, the project is expected to reduce the burden of electricity bills and greatly improve the daily convenience of seniors and people with disabilities.
An official from the county’s Resident Welfare Division stated, “This project goes beyond simple facility improvements to provide a life-oriented smart welfare service that enhances the safety and quality of life for vulnerable groups,” adding, “We will continue to expand smart welfare and safety services tailored to the region’s characteristics.”
