Dharma Talks by Venerable Muyeo, Hyeguk, Bulsan, and Others at the 'Damsun Grand Dharma Assembly'
From April 13... Revisiting the Traditions of Korean Seon Practice
The Future Headquarters of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, the National Zen Masters Association, and Bongeunsa Temple announced on April 7 that they will hold the “Damsundae Dharma Assembly” at Bongeunsa Temple in Seoul from April 13 to 19.
This Dharma assembly follows last year’s Damsun Dharma Assembly held at Jogyesa Temple. According to the Jogye Order, the event will serve as an occasion to reflect not only on the flow of Zen Buddhism introduced from China, but also on the unique tradition of spiritual practice and the foundation of Ganhwa Seon (Korean meditation) established in Korea.
The Dharma talks will take place every day at 2 p.m. on the Beopwangru Pavilion and a special stage at Bongeunsa Temple. The speakers are as follows: Grand Master Geuma Hyeguk (Seokjongsa Temple) on the 13th; Grand Master Nammyung Jeongchan (Dongguk Seonwon, Daeheungsa Temple) on the 14th; Grand Master Geumgok Muyeo (Chukseosa Temple) on the 15th; Grand Master Wolsong Ilsu (Baekyangsa Temple) on the 16th; Grand Master Geumsan Jihwan (Beomeosa Temple) on the 17th; Grand Master Geummo Bulsan (Executive Representative of the National Zen Masters Association) on the 18th; and Grand Master Bongjeong Youngjin (Baekdamsa Temple) on the 19th.
This Dharma assembly, initiated by the prayer of Venerable Jinwoo, President of the Jogye Order, is jointly organized by Bongeunsa Temple, the Future Headquarters, and the National Zen Masters Association. Participants in the assembly will recite the “Compassion Sutra” together, praying for world peace and national unity.
