500 Million Won Invested... “Gaeamjeong Pavilion Area” to Become a Nighttime Landmark
Dakbawi Rock and Gaeamjeong Pavilion in Shinnam-ri Transformed into a Nighttime Attraction of Light
Inje County has been finally selected for the “2026 Landscape Design Contest Project” organized by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and will begin full-scale implementation of the “Gaeam Trail Awakening Shinnam” project. This initiative aims to dramatically improve the nighttime landscape and strengthen the local identity in the Shinnam-ri area of Nam-myeon.
The county plans to invest a total project budget of 500 million won to establish distinctive nighttime landscape content around 467-3, Shinnam-ri, Nam-myeon.
First, the historic landmarks of Dakbawi Rock and Gaeamjeong Pavilion in the area will be designated as the “Gaeam Awakening Memories” zone, and landscape improvements will be carried out there.
This will include redesigning the entrance, creating a water feature, and installing projection lighting and tree lamps that highlight the shapes of Dakbawi Rock and Gaeamjeong Pavilion, thereby reinforcing the area’s identity as a key local attraction.
The previously dark 1-kilometer section of the walking trail will be transformed into the “Night Awakening Trail.”
To ensure safety for nighttime pedestrians, floor projection lights will be installed, and design benches will be placed, creating a comfortable walking environment where residents and visitors can safely relax even after dark.
The county expects that, since the project site is adjacent to Eoron Wetland Ecological Park, the Bing-eo Lake Integrated Tourist Complex, Shinnam Bus Terminal, Nam-myeon Cultural Center, and local schools, this landscape design project will not only improve residential conditions but also enhance connectivity with tourism resources.
In particular, by improving the previously dark nighttime landscape of the walking trail, the county aims to improve convenience for residents and provide new attractions and rest areas for visitors, which is expected to enhance the region’s image and boost tourism.
Inje County plans to carry out consulting, landscape design development, and design services from May to July, followed by full-scale implementation of the project from August to December, with the goal of completion within the year.
