Daejeon City Discloses 2026 Regular Asset Changes of Public Officials
Average Reported Assets: 946.67 Million Won
63 Out of 98 Officials Saw an Increase in Assets
On March 26, Daejeon City released the details of changes in assets for a total of 98 individuals subject to the 2026 regular asset disclosure, through the government gazette and the Daejeon City public bulletin.
According to Article 6 of the Public Officials Ethics Act, those required to register their assets must report changes in their assets from January 1 to December 31, 2025 (for first-time disclosers in 2025, from the date they became subject to disclosure until December 31), by March 3, 2026.
In addition, Article 10 of the same Act stipulates that the Public Officials Ethics Committee must make the disclosures public within one month after the reporting period ends.
The total number of individuals subject to disclosure is 98. The asset changes of 31 individuals subject to government disclosure (including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor for Administration, Deputy Mayor for Political Science and Economy, two executive officials, 21 city council members, and five district heads) are published in the electronic government gazette. The asset changes of 67 individuals subject to Daejeon City disclosure (including 62 members of district councils and five heads of public institutions) are released through the Daejeon City public bulletin and website.
The average reported assets of those subject to disclosure amounted to 946.67 million won. Of the officials, 63 reported an increase in assets, while 35 reported a decrease.
By asset size, those holding less than 1 billion won accounted for the largest proportion at 65.3% (64 individuals). Among those with an increase in assets, 32.7% (32 individuals) saw an increase of less than 50 million won, 15.3% (15 individuals) had an increase between 50 million and less than 100 million won, and 16.3% (16 individuals) reported an increase of 100 million won or more.
The main reasons for the increase in assets were the rise in officially assessed real estate prices and stock values. The main reasons for the decrease in assets were the decline in real estate values and other factors.
According to Article 8 of the Public Officials Ethics Act, the reported changes in assets will be reviewed by the competent Public Officials Ethics Committee within three months after disclosure. If any unfaithful reporting is found during the asset review, actions such as warnings, corrective measures, fines, or requests for dismissal or disciplinary action will be taken depending on the severity of the violation.
