[2026 Asset Disclosure] Nine Out of Ten Lawmakers Saw Asset Growth Last Year... Ahn Cheolsoo Tops List with 125.7 Billion Won
Nine Lawmakers, Including Ahn Cheolsoo, Park Deokheum, and Park Jeong, Hold Assets Exceeding 10 Billion Won
88% of 285 National Assembly Members Saw Their Wealth Increase Compared to the Previous Year
Despite last year's economic downturn, the majority of National Assembly members saw an increase in their personal assets. Nine out of ten lawmakers experienced asset growth, and the average assets per person were calculated at approximately 2.8 billion won. Once again, Ahn Cheolsoo of the People Power Party ranked first in asset size this year.
According to the “2026 Regular Asset Change Report for National Assembly Members (as of the end of 2025)” released by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee on March 26, 254 current lawmakers, or 88% of the total, reported an increase in their assets.
This figure was calculated excluding Ahn Cheolsoo (125.7 billion won) and Park Deokheum (54.8 billion won), both of whom reported total assets exceeding 50 billion won. Out of the 287 incumbent lawmakers, the data was based on the remaining 285 members, excluding these two.
The average reported assets for these 285 lawmakers stood at 2.8873 billion won. This represents an increase of about 8% compared to the previous year's average reported assets of 2.65858 billion won.
By asset size, the largest group was those with assets between 1 billion and 2 billion won, totaling 97 lawmakers (33.8%). Next were those with 2 billion to 5 billion won (83 lawmakers, 28.9%), 500 million to 1 billion won (47 lawmakers, 16.4%), over 5 billion won (36 lawmakers, 12.5%), and under 500 million won (24 lawmakers, 8.4%).
Among them, lawmakers with more than 10 billion won in assets included Ahn Cheolsoo, Park Deokheum, Park Jeong, Ko Dongjin, Paek Jongheon, Kim Eunhye, Seo Myeongok, Yoon Sanghyun, and Choi Eunseok.
Looking at the scale of asset increases, the largest group was those whose assets grew by between 100 million and 500 million won, totaling 158 lawmakers (62.2%). This was followed by an increase of less than 50 million won (33 lawmakers, 13.0%), 50 million to 100 million won (30 lawmakers, 11.8%), 500 million to 1 billion won (20 lawmakers, 7.9%), and over 1 billion won (13 lawmakers, 5.1%).

On the other hand, only 33 lawmakers (11.5%) saw their assets decrease. Of these, 12 lawmakers (36.4%) experienced a decrease of less than 50 million won, 5 lawmakers (15.1%) a decrease of 50 million to 100 million won, 6 lawmakers (18.2%) a decrease of 100 million to 500 million won, 5 lawmakers (15.1%) a decrease of 500 million to 1 billion won, and 5 lawmakers (15.1%) a decrease of more than 1 billion won.
