"If There Are Fans, We'll Go Anywhere"
"We may appear small and slight offstage, but when the four of us come together, we radiate more powerful energy than anyone. We may be small, but we are never weak."
Baby Don't Cry, the first girl group introduced by P Nation led by world star PSY, is opening a new chapter in the K-Pop universe by drawing on the universal sentiment of "tears." On the 24th, they held a showcase at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where they unveiled their first mini album, "After Cry." This album marks the starting point of their upcoming "Tear Trilogy" project.
Baby Don't Cry made their debut in June 2023 with the digital single "F Girl," taking their first step into the music industry. As P Nation's first girl group under the leadership of PSY, they garnered attention for their symbolic status and kitschy charm. They followed up by releasing their second digital single, "I DON'T CARE," in November of the same year, continuing their musical journey.
Through their digital singles, the group built up experience while communicating with their fandom, "Cherries." Now, for the first time since their debut, they have released a mini album. The pre-released track "Shapeshifter," which dropped on the 11th, surpassed 8.9 million views on YouTube, boosting expectations for their comeback. Benny stated, "At our debut showcase at this very venue, I was nervous and scared, but now we have the confidence and ability to express our opinions proudly."
The title track, "Bittersweet," as its name suggests, captures the coexistence of sweetness and bitterness that defines youth. Created through the collaboration of hitmaker producer Ryan Jhun and lyricist Kim Eana, the song weaves a narrative of wounds and growth beneath its lively pop melody. It delicately expresses the warmth of the heart that one only comes to understand with time.
Notably, the choreography for the chorus stands out as a key highlight of this promotion. Movements that simultaneously draw tears and smiles visually embody the song’s paradoxical message, leaving a powerful impression. Lee Hyun explained, "The lyrics are so delicate that I reflected deeply on my emotions while recording," adding, "It's a song that reminds me that I am who I am now because of the pain I experienced."
The album includes the title track, "Shapeshifter," which signals the beginning of change, and "Mama I'm Alright," which reflects the first crack in youth. "Mama I'm Alright" creatively samples the 2003 dance classic "Dragostea Din Tei." In addition, the album features the hip-hop track "Moves Like Ciara" with Giriboy’s participation, as well as "Tears On My Pillow," which captures the emotions of the night, for a total of five tracks.

The album title "After Cry" does not simply refer to what comes after tears, but to the painful times leading up to those tears. The members unanimously shared that the hardships of their trainee days forged their current strength.
Kumi recalled, "I remember walking quietly back to our dorm with the members after practicing late at night during our trainee days." Foreign member Mia shared, "There were many difficult and sad moments training in a foreign country away from my family, but I am grateful that I was able to overcome them and stand on stage." Benny emphasized, "We may look small offstage, but when the four of us come together, we generate more energy than anyone."
The solid support behind their comeback is the wholehearted trust of their agency head, PSY. Benny said, "PSY told us he had a good feeling that all five tracks on this album would do well," adding, "As this is a mini album, his advice to practice with a sense of responsibility was a big motivation for us."
Baby Don't Cry was included in the "NME 100," a list of new artists to watch in 2026 selected by British music magazine NME. They also appeared on the TV Tokyo music program "Chochou Onpa," laying the groundwork for their global expansion. Benny said, "I’m proud that we're a group contributing to the worldwide popularity of K-Pop," and expressed her ambition: "If given the chance, I want to go anywhere in the world and put on a great show."
Lee Hyun was chosen as the official MC of SBS’s "Inkigayo" in January and now greets fans every week. Her stable hosting skills, demonstrated during her two stints as a special MC in July and November last year, led to her official selection. These activities, despite her rookie status, also resulted in achievements such as being chosen as a model for major brands like VDL and Body Fantasies, establishing her as a rising star in the advertising industry.
