Toss Securities Launches "RIA Account" Allowing Users to Preview Expected Tax Savings
Connecting Overseas Stock Gains to Domestic Investments
Toss Securities launched the domestic stock repatriation account, "RIA," on March 24, 2026.
RIA is a system introduced to encourage the inflow of overseas stock investment gains into the domestic stock market. If certain conditions are met, it can reduce the burden of capital gains tax.
To help investors better understand and utilize the benefits of RIA, Toss Securities provides a feature that allows users to preview their expected tax savings during the account opening process. The estimated tax amount is calculated based on trading data within Toss Securities, and the actual tax may differ.
In addition, to support the domestic stock investment environment, Toss Securities is offering zero commission fees for domestic stock trading until June 30, 2026. Preferential exchange rates are applied when converting foreign currency proceeds from overseas stock sales through RIA accounts.
Investors expecting capital gains of 2.5 million won or more from overseas stock investments can receive tax benefits through an RIA account. The benefits apply to overseas stocks, overseas-listed ETFs, and other such assets held before December 23, 2025. After selling these assets, if the funds are invested in domestic stocks, domestic stock-type ETFs, or are maintained for a certain period, tax incentives are provided.
The tax deduction applies up to a limit of 50 million won in sale proceeds, with the deduction rate reaching up to 100%. However, the deduction rate decreases gradually depending on the timing of the sale.
