Since 2020, Toyota Motor Korea has been collaborating with domestic educational institutions to offer a variety of educational programs, including electrification technology training, training visits to Japan, and the provision of training vehicles. Currently, it is working with a total of 14 educational institutions nationwide, including nine universities and five high schools. Since initiating vehicle donations for training purposes in 2021, the company has provided a total of 37 vehicles to date.
The vehicles donated this time include the Sienna, Prius AWD, Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), Lexus UX, and GR86. These were selected to allow students to learn about electrification technologies and various vehicle structures using real vehicles. By including a hybrid minivan, an electrified hatchback, a hybrid SUV, and a rear-wheel-drive sports car, the program enables students to experience a wide range of automotive technologies—including electrification, vehicle structure, and driving performance characteristics—within their training environment.
In particular, by providing Toyota and Lexus’s core electrified models such as the Prius AWD, Prius PHEV, and Lexus UX, all equipped with electronic 4WD systems, the program allows students to experience the latest electrification technologies. The GR86, a motorsports-based rear-wheel-drive sports car, is also included to give students the opportunity to study various vehicle architectures and driving characteristics.
Through December, Toyota Motor Korea plans to visit the designated schools in sequence and conduct additional educational programs on topics such as Toyota’s electrification technologies, brand philosophy, and the Toyota Production System (TPS).
