To prevent the spread of ASF, Jeonnam Province has deployed an initial quarantine team from the Livestock Hygiene Control Support Headquarters to the affected farm, where they are enforcing entry restrictions and conducting emergency disinfection measures.
The province plans to promptly cull the livestock at the affected farm and will thoroughly carry out follow-up management, including cleaning, disinfection, and preventing environmental contamination in the surrounding area.
A 10-kilometer radius around the affected farm has been designated as the quarantine zone. All pig farms and epidemiologically linked farms and facilities within this area are subject to movement restrictions, as well as clinical and detailed inspections.
The province has dispatched on-site support staff to conduct additional epidemiological investigations into the cause of the outbreak and will intensify disinfection and monitoring activities for pig farms within the quarantine zone.
In addition, a 24-hour temporary movement ban has been issued on pig farms, related livestock facilities (such as slaughterhouses and feed factories), and livestock vehicles in Hampyeong-gun until 11:30 p.m. on March 17. Comprehensive disinfection will be carried out, and compliance with these measures will be closely monitored.
Lee Youngnam, Director of Animal Quarantine at Jeonnam Province, stated, "We will mobilize all available resources to focus on blocking and controlling the disease to prevent its spread within the province," and urged farms to "strictly control the access of vehicles and people to farms and thoroughly disinfect both inside and outside the premises."
