The Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with Daegu Metropolitan City, announced on March 16 that it is recruiting companies in the region to participate in consulting services as part of the “Daegu ESG Management Support Program” aimed at strengthening local businesses’ ESG response capabilities.

Recently, evaluation standards for companies have been shifting rapidly from financial factors to non-financial factors such as ESG, resulting in increased demands for ESG information from clients and investors. The impact of ESG on corporate value has also grown, requiring companies to proactively address ESG issues.

In response, since 2022, Daegu Metropolitan City and the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry have been carrying out a comprehensive program to strengthen ESG capabilities among local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies experiencing difficulties with ESG. The program includes consulting, ESG education, and information provision.

The consulting services are structured in stages to allow companies to apply according to their ESG maturity level. This year, a total of 11 types of consulting will be offered: 3 for beginners, 6 for growth, and 2 for advanced companies, with the advanced consulting services newly added this year.

The three beginner consulting services include ESG management diagnostics, greenhouse gas inventory establishment, and support for the establishment or revision of ESG regulations. The six growth consulting services cover ESG strategy development, ESG report publication, ESG data management, carbon footprint calculation, support for supply chain due diligence, and human rights impact assessment. The two advanced consulting services provide support for international ESG certification and TCFD/IFRS climate information disclosure.

Additionally, an ESG School to enhance understanding of ESG management and a one-on-one expert mentoring program to address company-specific ESG challenges are also planned for implementation in the near future.

Eligible applicants are companies with a head office or factory located in Daegu City for at least three years as of the announcement date. Companies must apply for at least one of the beginner or growth consulting services, and those wishing to receive advanced consulting may apply for one of the two advanced services in addition.

To further improve understanding of the ESG Management Support Program and provide detailed guidance, an “ESG Management Support Program Briefing Session” will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 20 at the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Individual consultations will also be provided for participating companies during the session.
