Following the 'Breakfast Support Program,' Gwangju to Renovate In-House Cafeterias with Up to 30 Million Won in Funding
Support for Interior Renovation and Kitchen Equipment Replacement
at Six Aging Industrial Complexes Including Bonchon and Hanam
Gwangju Metropolitan City is set to support the renovation of in-house cafeterias in aging industrial complexes to enhance the welfare of workers and improve their working environment.
On March 16, Gwangju City announced the launch of the 'Renovation Project for Worker-Friendly In-House Cafeterias in Aging Industrial Complexes.'
This project is a follow-up welfare policy to the 'Breakfast Support Program for Industrial Complex Workers,' which was first implemented by Gwangju and later adopted as a national agenda item.
This year, Gwangju plans to invest 150 million won in the project to improve cafeteria facilities within industrial complexes, allowing workers to dine in a more comfortable environment.
The support targets companies operating group cafeterias in six aging industrial complexes—Bonchon, Songam, Sochon, Hanam, Pyeongdong 1 and 2, and Cheomdan—that have been in operation for more than 20 years since their construction.
Selected companies will receive funding for comprehensive facility improvements, including cafeteria interior renovations and replacement of outdated appliances and kitchen equipment. Gwangju will provide up to 30 million won per company, covering up to 75% of the total project cost, with the participating companies responsible for at least the remaining 25%.
To ensure balanced support across industrial complexes, Gwangju will select approximately five companies through an evaluation based on specific assessment indicators. The selected companies will begin cafeteria renovations starting in May.
Companies wishing to participate can apply between March 31 and April 6. Eligible applicants must have completed registration for establishing and operating group cafeterias in accordance with the Food Sanitation Act.
