Full-Scale Initiative to Strengthen Digital Competency for All Employees
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province is embarking on a full-scale administrative innovation initiative using artificial intelligence (AI). The city plans to enhance public officials’ digital capabilities by promoting practical, work-focused training aimed at “halving work time and doubling results.” All employees will receive AI customized education.
To improve public officials’ AI utilization skills and strengthen the efficiency of administrative work, the city will operate “AI Competency Enhancement Customized Education” throughout 2026. Rather than simple theory-based training, the program is designed as a hands-on course that can be directly applied to actual administrative work, thereby maximizing the impact of work innovation.
First, AI utilization job training will be provided to 400 public officials twice a year, in the first and second half (March and July), covering nine courses across four areas: work automation, data analysis, and content production, among others. The first half training will take place from March 10 to March 31 at the city’s computer training center.
The curriculum is tailored to cover topics highly applicable in administrative settings. Through practical instruction on work automation such as report writing and chatbot planning, Excel-based large-scale data processing and analysis, and video content production for administrative promotion, public officials will learn to apply AI tools directly to their daily responsibilities.
Along with the training, the city will also establish AI learning infrastructure. This includes demand-based lectures that share central government policies and the latest AI technology trends, as well as foundational AI education for prospective public officials, aiming to raise digital literacy throughout the public sector. Additionally, the city will expand online AI education content through a cyber learning platform and actively support participation in external specialized training, thereby strengthening public officials’ expertise in a progressive manner.
Going forward, the city plans to continuously expand advanced AI utilization courses and practical application programs in line with training demand and changes in the administrative environment, systematically cultivating professionals who will lead AI-driven administrative innovation.
