Busan Transportation Corporation Donates 20 Million Won from Salary Rounding Fund to Support Pediatric Cancer Treatment
Voluntary Charitable Giving by Employees Continues Since 2006
Total Donations Reach 524 Million Won
Employees of Busan Transportation Corporation have donated funds raised through salary rounding to support treatment for children and adolescents with cancer.
On March 11, Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) held a "Salary Rounding Fund Donation Ceremony" in the reception room on the 7th floor of its headquarters and delivered 20 million won in donations to the Busan branch of the Korea Leukemia and Pediatric Cancer Association.
The event was attended by Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, Park Myungdo, Head of Management Support Division, Yoon Hyungjoo, Vice President of the Korea Leukemia and Pediatric Cancer Association, and Park Dongho, Head of the Busan branch, along with other representatives from both organizations. The entire donation will be used to support treatment costs for children and adolescent cancer patients living in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions.
Since 2006, employees of Busan Transportation Corporation have voluntarily collected and donated the remaining change of less than 1,000 won from their monthly salaries as part of an ongoing charitable activity. Last year, a total of 31.54 million won was raised through this initiative.
The accumulated amount returned to the local community from the salary rounding campaign has reached 524.38 million won. Of this, 395.64 million won has been donated to the Korea Leukemia and Pediatric Cancer Association, demonstrating the corporation’s ongoing commitment to supporting children and adolescents with cancer.
In December last year, the corporation also donated 5.77 million won each to "With Migrants," an organization dedicated to protecting migrant human rights, and "Busan Human Rights Platform Parang," which supports human rights activities in the Busan area. Both organizations were recommended by the labor union, adding significance to the donation as it was a joint effort between management and labor.
