According to the Mokpo Maritime Police Station, at around 1:35 a.m. on March 11, a report was received at the Jindo Police Substation that a person had fallen into the sea near Seomang Port, Imhoe-myeon, Jindo-gun.
Upon receiving the report, officers from the Jindo Police Substation immediately headed to the scene equipped with rescue gear. Two minutes after the report was received, the Maritime Police arrived at the site and found Mr. A, a man in his 40s who had fallen into the sea, holding onto a rope installed on the quay. The officers, together with other passengers, safely rescued him.
The rescued Mr. A was confirmed to be a passenger on the fishing boat who had slipped and fallen into the sea while moving luggage before departure. It was reported that he was in good health and suffered no injuries.

A Mokpo Maritime Police Station official stated, "Slipping accidents are likely to occur at harbors or ports during nighttime or early morning hours," and urged, "Please pay special attention to safety during boarding and while moving around."
