People Power Party Nomination Committee Accepts Additional Applications for Seoul and South Chungcheong Governor Nominations
Applications Accepted Until March 12, Candidate Interviews Scheduled for March 13
The People Power Party's Nomination Management Committee announced on March 11 that it will accept additional applications for candidates seeking nomination as metropolitan governors in two regions: Seoul and South Chungcheong Province.
The committee will accept applications until March 12, following an additional notice issued on this day. Candidate interviews are scheduled for March 13.
Lee Junghyun, Chairperson of the Nomination Management Committee of the People Power Party, stated, "Seoul and South Chungcheong Province are regions with significant symbolic meaning and large-scale elections," adding, "We determined it is necessary to create a structure for sufficient competition and vetting that meets public expectations, and to broaden the choices available to the people."
He continued, "We believe it is desirable to keep the door to politics open for talented individuals who are still considering running, both inside and outside the political sphere," and added, "The rights of existing applicants will be fully respected."
Initially, the People Power Party had closed applications for metropolitan and basic local government head nominations on March 8. However, following this meeting, the party decided to accept additional applications only for Seoul and South Chungcheong Province.
