"Yen Sold at 472 Won"—Toss Bank App Error Sells at Half Price
An error occurred on the Toss Bank application (app), causing the Japanese yen to be traded at roughly half of its normal value.
According to Toss Bank and online communities on March 10, for about seven minutes starting from 7:29 p.m. on this day, the exchange rate applied on the Toss Bank app for yen conversion was 472 won per 100 yen. Considering that the actual yen exchange rate on this day was around 934 won per 100 yen, this was about half the normal rate.
As a result, it is known that some users who had set automatic purchases at low prices were able to buy yen at this exchange rate. After recognizing the issue, Toss Bank temporarily suspended yen exchange transactions. The service was reportedly restored and operating normally from around 9:00 p.m. onwards.
