Agency Preparing Legal Action Through Monitoring
As a video of Jennie, a member of the group Blackpink, expressing fatigue over indiscriminate autograph requests in Paris, France spreads, her agency has announced a strong response against invasion of privacy and the dissemination of false information.
On March 9, Jennie's agency, OAO Entertainment, released an official statement saying, "Recently, malicious slander and baseless speculative posts about Jennie have been circulating on online communities and social media, leading to repeated cases of the artist's reputation being damaged by the spread of false information."

Previously, videos of Jennie surrounded by crowds on the streets of Paris had gone viral on online communities and social media. In the video, Jennie, while spending her personal time, was suddenly approached by people requesting autographs.
When the crowd blocked her path, a person believed to be her manager asked, "If she gives you an autograph, could you please let us pass?" Jennie said, "Please respect my privacy," and added, "Can I please have my own time? This is becoming very stressful." Jennie then began signing for some requests, but when individuals who had already received autographs asked again, she declined, saying, "Please keep your promise." The manager was also seen repeatedly asking those demanding more autographs, "Didn't you already get one earlier?" and "Are you planning to resell them?"

As the video spread, online reactions were mixed. Some questioned, "Has she lost her humility?" or "Couldn't she just smile and do it?" However, others defended Jennie, saying, "The artist's privacy should be respected," and "This would be a highly stressful situation."
As the controversy grew, the agency made its intention to take legal action clear. OAO Entertainment stated, "We are currently collecting related materials through continuous monitoring of social media and online platforms, and are preparing for legal action based on legal counsel." The agency emphasized, "Regarding acts that infringe upon the artist's reputation, rights, publicity rights, and other intellectual property rights, as well as invasions of privacy, we will respond strongly—including civil and criminal legal action depending on the seriousness of the matter—with no leniency or settlements during this process."
