Alloso Launches Modular Sofa 'Didim' Inspired by Korean Floor-Seating Culture
Collaboration with Sweden's Note Design Studio
Low Ottoman and Modular Design Usable on Either Side
Introducing the "Soban" Sofa Table Alongside the Collection
Living brand Alloso announced on March 10 that it has launched a new modular sofa collection, "Didim (DIDIM)," inspired by the traditional Korean floor-seating lifestyle.
This new product was developed in collaboration with the global design studio Note Design Studio, which is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
The collection reinterprets space utilization methods inspired by the courtyard and floor (maru) of a traditional Korean house (hanok), adapting them to a modern living room environment. The name "Didim" is derived from the Korean verb "didida," which means "to step," and refers to the moment when the body first makes contact with a space.
Alloso has proposed the "K-sofa" design, which connects the floor-oriented space utilization of Korean seating culture with the contemporary trend of blurred boundaries between the kitchen and living room.
The Didim sofa is designed as a modular system inspired by Korea’s traditional floor-seating culture, where the floor is the central living space. It allows for various postures such as sitting, leaning, and lying down.
One of the key features of the Didim sofa is the low ottoman module, which provides comfortable support even when using the backrest of the sofa as a prop. Each module can be used interchangeably on either side, allowing users to freely arrange the pieces according to their space and lifestyle.
The Didim sofa was officially released and made its debut at the "2026 Seoul Living Design Fair" held on February 25. It is currently on display at three locations, including the Alloso Cheongdam flagship store, with plans to expand to more showrooms in the future.
The "Soban" sofa table, which will be additionally released in April, is also inspired by traditional Korean furniture. It is lightweight, easy to move, and comes in two different heights. With a lower height suitable for both floor-seating and standard seating lifestyles and a balanced structure, it provides a comfortable seating arrangement. Users can freely combine the modular sofa and table to flexibly organize the living room according to their lifestyle.
Note Design Studio, responsible for the design, is a global design studio founded in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2008. The studio is active in various fields including architecture, interiors, and product design. Based on its "Gentle Punch" design philosophy, it offers designs that add a fresh sensibility to functional comfort, and has collaborated with global furniture brands such as Menu, &Tradition, and Sancal.
