If the Korean national team, led by manager Ryu Ji-hyun, secures a ticket to Miami, USA, where the quarterfinals will be held, they will be guaranteed at least 1.75 million dollars (approximately 2.59 billion won). If Korea advances to the quarterfinals as the top team in their group, they will receive an additional 750,000-dollar bonus. However, after losing 6-8 to Japan on March 7, Korea's chances of finishing first in their group have diminished.
Teams that win in the quarterfinals receive 1.25 million dollars, and an additional 1.25 million dollars is awarded for reaching the final. The champion team will receive a separate prize of 2.5 million dollars. As a result, the winning team will receive at least 6.75 million dollars (about 10 billion won), and if a team reaches the finals as the top team in their group and wins the championship, the total can rise to a maximum of 7.5 million dollars.
The scale of prize money for this tournament has increased significantly compared to the 2023 WBC. At that time, the minimum prize for the champion team was 2.7 million dollars, but this year it has more than doubled to 6.75 million dollars. The total prize pool for the tournament has also expanded from 14.4 million dollars to 37.5 million dollars.
