Gyeongsan City Launches 'Integrated Support Council'... Paving the Way for Regional Integrated Care in 2026

A Collaborative System of 19 Medical and Welfare Experts Established
On March 5, Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) held the appointment ceremony and the first regular meeting of the Gyeongsan City Integrated Support Council, establishing a foundation for collaboration to build a regional integrated care system.
The event was attended by officials and field experts from the medical, nursing, welfare, and public health sectors. During the ceremony, appointment letters were presented, the direction for council operations was shared, and plans for promoting the integrated care project in 2026 were discussed.
The Integrated Support Council operates as a public-private partnership governance body to organically connect the region’s dispersed care resources.
The council consists of a total of 19 members, including Mayor Cho Hyunil, who serves as the chairperson.
Members include representatives from the Gyeongbuk Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, welfare centers for the elderly and disabled, the Integrated Home Care Support Center for seniors, and organizations related to regional medical and care services (medical association, pharmaceutical association, association of Korean medicine doctors, and nursing association). The term of appointment is two years.
At the first regular meeting held after the appointment ceremony, participants elected the vice-chairperson, shared the background and policy direction for the integrated care initiative, and reviewed the implementation plan for the 2026 integrated care project.
The implementation plan focused on specific directions such as supporting discharged patients’ return to the community, linking home visits and health management, and providing assistance for improvements in daily living, mobility, and housing environments.
Additionally, practical cooperation measures were explored, including standardizing the system for identifying eligible individuals, sharing information among institutions, preventing service overlap, and strengthening follow-up management.
The Gyeongsan City integrated care project aims to provide comprehensive medical, nursing, care, and housing services so that citizens with frailty, disabilities, or illnesses who struggle with daily activities can continue living at home rather than in facilities.
Tailored support will be provided through integrated assessments by individual, personalized support plans, and regular check-ups for each recipient.
