Democratic Party Leads in Both Central and Lawmaker Fundraising
Average Fundraising per Lawmaker Surpasses 200 Million Won
Last year, the fundraising total of the central party supporters' association of the People Power Party was surpassed by both minor parties with seats in the National Assembly (the Progressive Party and the Reform Party) and extra-parliamentary parties (the Justice Party).
The National Election Commission announced on March 6, 2026, that the fundraising totals for the central party supporters' associations in 2025 reflected this outcome. Under current law, the annual fundraising cap for central parties during an election year is 10 billion won (5 billion won for parties not participating in the election).

Additionally, a total of 52 lawmakers' supporters' associations raised more than the annual fundraising cap of 300 million won last year. According to the current Political Funds Act, if, due to unavoidable circumstances in the process of fundraising via credit card, bank account, telephone, or online electronic payment systems, the annual fundraising cap is exceeded, up to 20% over the cap is permitted. The excess amount raised is counted toward the following year's fundraising cap.
