'Hachuping', which set new box office records for Korean animation, will return to theaters this summer on a much larger scale.
SAMG Entertainment Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Suhoon), a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on March 6 that it has confirmed the release of the theatrical sequel to its flagship IP, "Hachuping of Love: The Legend of the Whale Jewel," for this summer season. This new film is the official follow-up to "Hachuping of Love," which surpassed 1.24 million viewers last year and ranked third in the history of Korean animation box office hits.
While the previous installment focused on the "beginning"—the first encounter between Romi and Hachuping—this second story is set in the deep sea, where a mysterious jewel is hidden. On March 6, to celebrate Hachuping's birthday, SAMG Entertainment kicked off full-scale promotion by unveiling a surprise launch art. The released image features silhouettes of a giant whale and the main characters, suggesting that the previously land-based worldview will now be greatly expanded into the ocean.
Notably, a highlight of this project is its strategic partnership with BifourM Studio (hereafter referred to as BifourM). As of 2025, BifourM has emerged as a major player, ranking second in the Korean film distribution industry with sales revenue of 78.3 billion won. The company is recognized for its digital channel with 25 million monthly users and a robust OSMU (One Source Multi Use) infrastructure.
SAMG Entertainment plans to combine BifourM's sophisticated SNS marketing data and distribution network to expand its target audience beyond its core demographic of kids and family groups, reaching Millennials & Gen Z and international fanbases.
