School Meal Hygiene Inspection to Prevent Food Poisoning in the New Semester
Listening to On-Site Feedback by Participating in Student Meal Service
Seokjun Kim, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, visited Mandeok Elementary School on March 5 to conduct a special inspection of school meals, aiming to create a safe meal environment for the new semester.
This inspection was organized to review the overall hygiene conditions of the school cafeteria and prevent meal-related safety incidents, in preparation for the new semester when the risk of food poisoning is higher. After the inspection, Superintendent Kim also took time to communicate with school meal staff and listen to the challenges they face on site.
On this day, Superintendent Kim personally served meals to students and participated in tasting monitoring, exchanging feedback on school meals from the students' perspective. Other senior officials from the Office of Education, including the Deputy Superintendent, also plan to visit school cafeterias within the city during March to focus on inspecting food ingredient acceptance and hygiene standards, thereby further supporting meal safety efforts.
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, in cooperation with the Busan Regional Office of Food and Drug Safety, Busan Metropolitan City, and each district and county, has been conducting a joint inspection with related organizations since March 3 and will continue until March 20. This inspection targets kindergartens, school cafeterias, and food material suppliers to prevent food poisoning in school meals.
