KOSME Holds On-Site Communication for the Advancement of K-Shipbuilding SMEs
On-Site Meeting with 91 In-House Partner Companies of Samsung Heavy Industries
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency announced on March 4 that it held the “On-Site, Solution-Oriented KOSME” meeting at the Samsung Culture Center of Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, to support the leap forward of K-shipbuilding small and medium-sized enterprises.
The meeting was organized to help revitalize K-shipbuilding, which has recently regained momentum due to the expansion of global orders. Attendees included Sukkyoon Kang, Chairman of Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, Hoyul Bang, Head of Win-Win Cooperation at Samsung Heavy Industries, Jinseok Yoon, Chairman of the In-house Partners Council, and 16 other key stakeholders. Representatives from 91 in-house partner companies of Samsung Heavy Industries also observed the meeting.

In particular, this meeting went beyond the traditional “Visiting KOSME” format and adopted a “Solution-Oriented KOSME” approach focused on addressing challenges on-site. While providing guidance on KOSME’s main programs, such as policy funds and workforce support, and explaining the prevention of third-party unfair intervention as before, the agency strengthened its “on-site resolution” support by operating dedicated consultation booths, offering one-on-one on-site consultations and tailored solutions to the partner companies in attendance.

Chairman Sukkyoon Kang stated, “In order for Korea’s shipbuilding industry to once again rise to the top of the world, the role of SMEs that have supported the industry on the ground is crucial. Going forward, KOSME will continue to provide support focused on resolving on-site difficulties, so that the engine powering the leap of K-shipbuilding can operate vigorously.”
