Geochang County Holds Briefing on This Year's Priority and Key Project Promotion Plans
Administrative Procedures, Groundbreaking, and Completion Targeted Within the Year
Quarterly Progress Reviews to Be Conducted
Geochang County, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on March 4 that it held the "2026 Core Performance Goal Project Promotion Plan Meeting for Major Work" presided over by Deputy County Governor Hyunmi Kim.
The "Core Performance Goal Project for Major Work" aims to improve the county's overall performance by intensively managing 60 core projects selected from 132 current and priority projects and 132 new and special initiatives in the 2026 major work implementation plan, excluding pledged projects, based on their impact and perceived effectiveness among residents.

View original imageDuring the meeting, participants shared annual and quarterly targets and detailed promotion plans for the 60 core projects and discussed challenges and countermeasures.
According to the current status of achievement targets for each project: projects such as the construction of school complex facilities, creation of the Yeonghonam Sanmaru Forest Trail, improvement of the Gimcheon-ri Natural Disaster Risk Zone, installation of a dedicated interchange for the advanced general industrial complex, and attracting the Geochang pumped storage power plant are scheduled to complete administrative procedures within the year; meanwhile, projects such as the construction of the Childcare Dream Center, improvement (new construction) of the municipal solid waste incineration facility, Geochang Changpowon Ecotourism Cultural Complex Project, Gimcheon District Urban Regeneration Project, and establishment of smart agriculture development zones and organic complex zones are all expected to begin construction within the year.
In addition, projects such as the second dormitory for agricultural workers and the local vitality town site, restoration of the Eunggok Stream ecological river, creation of climate-responsive urban forests, and expansion of community sports facilities within the second Changpowon are all being pursued with the goal of completion within the year.
Starting with this meeting, the county plans to strengthen the effectiveness of performance management by checking progress quarterly and awarding bonus points to departments that achieve year-end goals.
Deputy County Governor Hyunmi Kim emphasized, "Since the achievement of core project goals is directly linked to residents' trust in administration, I ask that everyone do their best to enhance the completeness of project execution and to deliver specific outcomes that resonate with our residents."

Meanwhile, Geochang County has been operating the Core Performance Goal Project for Major Work since 2024, achieving an overall implementation rate of 81% for 50 core projects in 2024 and 85% for 50 core projects in 2025, thereby continuously strengthening its internal performance management system.
