Jang Donghyuk: "Worried About Meeting the President With My House Unsold... Looking for a Buyer"
Jang Donghyuk, Leader of the People Power Party, dismissed criticism from the Democratic Party of Korea on the 28th regarding the sale of part of his real estate holdings, after they labeled it as a "token measure." He responded, "I have to meet the President at the March 1st Movement Day event tomorrow, but I'm worried because my property hasn't sold."
On his social networking service (SNS) account that day, Jang stated, "The President has listed his Bundang apartment for 2.9 billion won, but my Yeouido officetel, which is priced at less than 200 million won, hasn't attracted a single visitor. I suppose it's because, unlike some people, it's not a particularly desirable property."
He continued, "Since I promised the President, I need to sell my officetel quickly. I am looking for someone willing to purchase it at the price I paid, but the price is negotiable," he added.
Jang currently owns six properties: an apartment in Guro-gu, Seoul, where he resides; an apartment in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, which is his constituency; a house in Boryeong where his mother lives; a share of an apartment in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, where his mother-in-law resides; a share of an apartment in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, inherited from his father-in-law; and the aforementioned Yeouido officetel.
Jang commented, "I can't sell the apartment in Guro-gu where I live with my family or the apartment in Boryeong, my constituency. I also can't just tell my mother and mother-in-law, who live in the rural house and apartment, to move out onto the street, so it is a dilemma."
The property he recently put up for sale is known to have been purchased after his election in the 2022 parliamentary by-election to support his legislative activities.

Previously, after Jang listed one of his six properties for sale, officials from the Democratic Party of Korea criticized the move as a superficial gesture. Kang Deukgu, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, said, "You claim it hasn't sold because there have been no inquiries? Isn't that a lack of will? Please provide a proper answer."
