Daejeon City’s Youth Meeting Program "Yeon (Connection) In Daejeon" Leads Three Couples to Marriage
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo Holds Celebratory Tea Time with First and Second Program Couples
Through Daejeon City's youth meeting support program "Yeon (Connection) In Daejeon," three couples have gone on to get married.
On the 20th, the city invited the first and second couples to get married through the program to the reception room at City Hall for a congratulatory tea time.
"Yeon (Connection) In Daejeon" is a new project launched in 2025 to support healthy interaction and natural encounters among young people and to help expand their social networks. Last year, a total of 19 program sessions were held with 744 participants, resulting in a cumulative total of 118 couples.
Among them, three couples have gone on to marriage, and the first and second couples invited this time are scheduled to get married in the first half of this year. Another couple is also planning to marry in the first half of next year, demonstrating policy success in that the program goes beyond simply supporting meetings and actually leads to marriage.
During the tea time, the first and second couples to marry shared their impressions of participating in the program and their future plans in a conversation with Mayor Lee Jangwoo. At the end of the event, a commemorative photo shoot was held to celebrate the new beginning of the young couples.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo said, "I am very pleased and proud to meet the two couples who formed a relationship and became husband and wife through 'Yeon (Connection) In Daejeon,'" adding, "I sincerely congratulate all of you who found love in Daejeon and promised to share your future together."
He went on to say, "We will continue to expand effective policies so that young people's relationships can lead to marriage and long-term settlement in the region."
Daejeon City is pursuing a series of step-by-step support policies for young people, ranging from meeting and marriage to housing and settlement, including "Yeon (Connection) In Daejeon," a marriage encouragement grant for young couples, and interest support for housing jeonse loans for young newlyweds.
Through these efforts, the city is working to create a place where young people want to stay and can stably build the foundations of their lives.
Meanwhile, local companies Hana Bank, Edenne (CEO Yoo Eunseo), and Inart (CEO Eom Taehun) are also planning to sponsor goods to support the new beginnings of young couples, and these items will later be delivered to the married couples through the Daejeon Youth Tomorrow Foundation.
