Donghae City Carries Out Joint Public-Private Campaign for Lunar New Year
Donghae City in Gangwon Province has carried out an integrity, price-stability, and safety campaign in connection with its "Seol Traditional Market Visiting Day" event ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, in order to promote the use of traditional markets and spread a culture of integrity.
This event was organized to revitalize the local economy by encouraging shopping at traditional markets and supporting small business owners, while at the same time strengthening the public officials' commitment to integrity and fostering a culture of trust shared with citizens.
First, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the 12th, an integrity practice campaign for employees on their way to work was held at the main and annex building entrances of City Hall with the participation of all staff. The mayor, vice mayor, directors and division heads, senior officials, and employees took part together to promote compliance with the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the practice of not giving or receiving holiday gifts, and distributed promotional materials encouraging integrity.
Then, at 11:00 a.m. on the same day, the "Seol Traditional Market Visiting Day" event was held at the community square of Dongjjokbada Jungang Market. The event was co-hosted by Donghae City and the traditional market merchants' association, and was promoted through public-private cooperation with the participation of city hall staff and related institutions and organizations.
During the event, a citizen-participation integrity campaign was conducted alongside shopping at the traditional market. Promotional activities were carried out for merchants and citizens to spread a culture of honest transactions and create a trustworthy market, while civil society organizations and companies also joined to renew their commitment to practicing integrity and distributed promotional leaflets.
In addition, on-site, the Economic Division conducted a "Local Price Stabilization Campaign (YWCA)" together with the Safety Division's "Safety Inspection Day Campaign." Promotional activities were carried out in parallel for visitors to the traditional market to help establish a sound consumer culture and raise safety awareness.
On the 13th, a traditional market shopping event is also scheduled to be held at the Bukpyeong Folk Market (Customer Support Center). On that day as well, an integrity campaign will be carried out alongside the shopping event to once again reinforce the public sector's commitment to practicing integrity.
This integrity campaign was implemented based on Articles 3 and 6 of the Act on the Prevention of Corruption and the Establishment and Management of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Through this event, the city plans to encourage the use of Donghae Love Gift Certificates and Onnuri Gift Certificates and to foster an atmosphere of using traditional markets, thereby strengthening the foundation for local economic recovery.
