Former Drone Operations Command Chief Kim Yongdae Dismissed
Disciplinary Action for Abuse of Authority and Obstruction of the Exercise of Rights
Former Drone Operations Command commander Kim Yongdae (Major General) has been dismissed from public office. Kim was investigated by the special counsel for insurrection over the so-called "Pyongyang drone allegation" and has been brought to trial.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Jeong Bitna said at a regular briefing on the 12th, "We have imposed a heavy disciplinary measure on one general who was indicted without detention on charges including abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights."
Kim is accused of having, in October last year, directed an operation to deploy drones to Pyongyang without going through the normal reporting chain, under orders from former President Yoon Suk Yeol and former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun.

According to the special counsel's investigation, the Pyongyang drone operation was rashly carried out in order to militarily provoke North Korea and thereby create a pretext for former President Yoon to declare the December 3 Martial Law. Kim has been indicted on charges including abuse of authority, falsification of official documents, and issuing and reporting false orders, and was removed from his post on December 10 last year.
