Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital Recruits 15 Outstanding Physicians, "Advancing Care System for Severe and High-Frequency Diseases"
Providing Top-Tier Medical Services as a Regional Base Hospital
Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital (Director Song Hyun) announced on the 12th that it has recruited a large number of outstanding medical professionals across all clinical departments to strengthen its capabilities in treating high-frequency diseases and to expand care for critically ill patients.

The newly appointed medical staff are 15 in total: Professor Kim Donggwan in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery; Professor Yoo Soonjib in the Department of Endocrinology; Professor Kim Sangwi in the Department of Oncology; Professors Ko Taesung and Lee Sunghi in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine; Professor Kang Byungjoo in the Department of Rheumatology; Professor Lee Jaeha in the Department of Radiation Oncology; Professor Jeon Joohee in the Department of Neurosurgery; Professor Song Chaehyun in the Department of Ophthalmology; Professors Yang Byunggeun and Han Sangil in the Department of Emergency Medicine; Professor An Jisung in the Department of Psychiatry; Professors Ko Sungmin and Kim Hyebin in the Department of Critical Care Medicine; and Fellow Lee Heeuk in the Department of Gastroenterology.
Professor Kim Donggwan, who has performed more than 5,000 thoracoscopic lung cancer surgeries, is joining the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Professor Kim is an authority in lung cancer, lung transplantation, and thoracoscopic surgery, and has served as Head of the Lung Cancer Center at the Asan Medical Center Cancer Institute and as Chair of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Professor Yoo Soonjib of the Department of Endocrinology is a renowned specialist in endocrine diseases who has served as President of the Korean Endocrine Society and the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity. While serving as Chair of the Department of Endocrinology at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine and as Professor of Endocrinology at Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital, he has continued research and clinical practice in diabetes, obesity, and pituitary diseases.
Professor Kim Sangwi of the Department of Oncology has earned the trust of patients at Asan Medical Center by treating lung cancer, thymic tumors, malignant pleural mesothelioma, and nervous system cancers. He is known as the principal investigator who has conducted the largest number of lung cancer clinical trials in Korea, and has been selected as one of the "top 1% most influential researchers in the world."
Professor Ko Taesung of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is an authority in pediatric neurology who served as Director of the Children's Hospital at Asan Medical Center, leading advances in the treatment of pediatric neurological disorders and intractable epilepsy. He has also worked to improve the pediatric and adolescent care environment in areas such as congenital diseases, childhood cancer, and pediatric emergency medicine.
Professor Lee Sunghi is also joining the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Professor Lee previously served as a professor at Asan Medical Center and will be responsible for treating pediatric gastrointestinal diseases.
Professor Kang Byungjoo of the Department of Rheumatology will be in charge of treating rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. Until recently, Professor Kang served as a professor at Jeju National University Hospital and is recognized for his research achievements in gout and inflammatory myopathies.
Professor Lee Jaeha of the Department of Radiation Oncology will provide radiation therapy for lung cancer, genitourinary cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, lymphomas, and other solid tumors. Building on his research achievements in low-dose therapy and hypofractionated radiotherapy, he will contribute to strengthening treatment capabilities for severe diseases.
Professor Jeon Joohee of the Department of Neurosurgery will cover brain tumors, hydrocephalus, head trauma, and traumatic intracranial hemorrhage, while Professor Song Chaehyun of the Department of Ophthalmology will treat a wide range of eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, and myopia. Professor An Jisung of the Department of Psychiatry will provide care in the field of child and adolescent mental health, and Fellow Lee Heeuk of the Department of Gastroenterology will be responsible for treating gastrointestinal diseases and caring for critically ill patients.
To ensure systematic response for emergency and critically ill patients, two physicians have been added to both the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Critical Care Medicine.
Professor Yang Byunggeun of the Department of Emergency Medicine has accumulated clinical experience as an emergency medicine specialist at Wonju Medical Center and Gyeongsang National University Hospital, while Professor Han Sangil has built his emergency medicine career at Wonju Medical Center and Wonju Severance Christian Hospital.
In the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Professor Ko Sungmin, an internal medicine specialist, and Professor Kim Hyebin, a surgery specialist, will provide dedicated care in the intensive care unit.
