Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola Hosts Lunar New Year Events
Create Your Own Lucky Pouch and Experience Squid Game Traditional Games
Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola, a signature tourism attraction at Paju Imjingak, will host a variety of events to celebrate Lunar New Year in 2026, the Year of the Byeongo Horse.
During the five-day Lunar New Year holiday from February 14 to 18, visitors aged 80 or older (including those born in 1947 or earlier) can ride the gondola free of charge by presenting an ID card. This complimentary ride benefit has been prepared to express gratitude to seniors for the Lunar New Year holiday.
In addition, at DMZ Space, located on the first basement level of DMZ Station, a Lunar New Year hands-on program titled "Take Good Fortune with You" will run from February 16 to 18, where participants can make bokjumeoni (traditional lucky pouches). Participants can choose a bokjumeoni design they like, color it, cut it out with scissors, and glue it together to create their own lucky pouch and fully enjoy the festive atmosphere.
In the same area, there will also be a "Squid Game Traditional Games" zone to further enhance the Lunar New Year mood. Visitors can experience a total of six traditional games: ttakji-chigi (paper tile flipping), jegi-chagi (kicking a shuttlecock), biseok-chigi (stone-block game), gonggi-nori (jackstone game) featured in the globally successful "Netflix series Squid Game," as well as yutnori (a representative traditional board game for Lunar New Year) and tuho (arrow-throwing game).
Lee Baekhyun, CEO of Paju DMZ Gondola Co., Ltd., said, "To mark Lunar New Year, a national holiday, we have prepared this event to offer joyful memories that span all generations, from children to seniors," adding, "Since 2026, the Byeongo Year, is the Year of the Red Horse, I hope you will come to Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola with your family and fill yourselves with dynamic energy."
