Andong City, An Unbroken Lifeline Even During the Holidays
Emergency Rooms and On-call Hospitals Operating Without Gaps
Immediate Treatment Available When Children Fall Ill
Andong City is fully activating an emergency medical safety network to protect citizens' safety during the Lunar New Year holiday. The city plans to prevent any potential medical service gaps in advance and maintain a system capable of responding immediately when emergency patients occur.
From February 14 to 18, for five days, the city will operate an emergency medical treatment situation room within the public health center and organize a rapid response team that can be deployed to the field whenever a situation arises, thereby maintaining a constant state of readiness. This is a preemptive measure that takes into account the possibility of a surge in medical demand during the holiday due to increased travel and family gatherings.
Three local emergency medical institutions, including Andong Hospital, will maintain a 24-hour treatment system. In particular, Andong Hospital will keep its pediatrics department open at all times to minimize the "treatment gap for children," which is one of the biggest concerns for parents.
The city has also designated on-call medical institutions and pharmacies so that patients with minor conditions can receive treatment nearby, while severe cases can be handled intensively by emergency medical institutions. This measure is intended to reduce overcrowding in emergency rooms and improve treatment efficiency.
Information on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that will be open during the holiday can be checked through the city hall and public health center websites, the emergency medical portal, and the "Emergency Medical Information" app.
An official from the public health center stated, "We have strengthened our preparations to ensure that not a single moment of service gap occurs during the holiday," adding, "We will do our utmost in on-site response so that citizens can spend time with their families with peace of mind."
